Versailles Bicycle Tour in Paris

Versailles Bicycle Tour in Paris

Versailles Bicycle Tour in Paris

Le Chateau de Versailles awaits you in all its grandeur as you return to the time period of the most famous French kings and queens.

Allow this small group tour to bring you to the most famous “house” in the world as few others have experienced it.

You’ll meet your tour and depart to the RER station as a group, and catch a train out to Versailles. Once at Versailles, you’ll first visit the village market to buy baguettes, cheese, ham, wine or whatever you desire for your picnic later in the Chateau’s gardens. You will then spend most of your day riding through the tree-lined gardens and near the Grand Canal.

The average Versailles tourist does not realize that they can only visit a small fraction of the gardens on foot - You’ll see it ALL!

Special Schedule Notes

There are no tours scheduled on May 1.

Highlights of the tour include:

Hall of Mirrors
Used by King Louis XIV as the place to welcome important guests (and also for opulent parties). Try to imagine walking the length of the Hall with servants lining both sides and King Louis himself sitting in a chair at the far end. Also the site of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 that officially ended World War I.

The Château
Located some 20 kilometers southwest of Paris, it was originally the royal hunting lodge. King Louis XIV moved his court officially to Versailles in 1682 and it became the seat of the French government and monarchy. The Château housed the royal family until 1789 when Revolutionaries forced them to return to Paris.

Chateau Gardens
The world-famous gardens are alone worth the trip. You will spend most of the day in the outer gardens and along the Grand Canal. These are only enjoyed on a bicycle and are virtually impossible to see on foot. Guests typically enjoy the gardens even more than the Chateau itself.

Grand & Petit Trianons
Built by Kings Louis XIV and XV respectively, they offer a fantastic view into the original Versailles. Each is located in the exterior gardens, away from the Chateau. Charles de Gaulle had an office in the Grand Trianon after World War II.

Versailles Open Market
Our first stop at Versailles will be at the world-famous market to shop for our picnic supplies. Stock up on fruit, cheese, meats, wine and, of course, pastries. Be sure to bring your appetite and a corkscrew.

Picnic along the Grand Canal
You and your group will settle down at the far end of the Grand Canal for the best picnic of your life. Typically everyone buys a little too much of something and it becomes a feast for all.

Important note: Tour price includes guide, bicycle, transportation to and from Versailles and Chateau entrance. Lunch is not included in the tour price.

Comparison of Day Tours Versus Night Tours:

Many customers want to know the difference between the Day Tours and Night Tours. First, the routes and information provided are completely different.

The Day Tour is where you'll get the most information about Paris. One of two comments most often heard after the Day Tour is either, "Wow, I'm so glad I took this because now I know what I'm going to do the next few days while I'm in the city" or, "I can't believe I'm leaving tonight because there's so much more here that I didn't know about and I've missed it all."

The Night Tour is simply beautiful. There is more riding involved and slightly less information than the Day tour, but the city at night is fantastic! It is a more relaxed atmosphere than the Day Tour as the wine tends to loosen everyone up a bit!

Most customers take both a Day Tour and a Night Tour because they are so different. However, if you're not sure you want to take both, we suggest you take whichever one sounds most interesting to you. Both Tours are great and taking both is even more fun!

TESTIMONIALS:

Bonjour! The only thing my wife can say is "it was the most fun ever!". Our Night tour with you guys was absolutely magical and the Versailles tour (we took it because the night was so good!) was my favorite day of our trip. Merci Beaucoup!

I'm glad I finally have e-mail access so I can let you know how much fun I had on our tours with you. We went on the night tour with Jordan and then to Versailles the next day with Toby...the bike tours were the highlight of my trip! We biked the Loire River Valley the next week...very nice....but not the same as your tours!!!

I would like to thank you for your warm hospitality to my family when we were in Paris. We will look forward to visiting you again in the future.I had the best time one could have in Paris thanks to your bike tour. The bike tour was so relaxing that it just melted away the stress of the day. I just couldn't believe the way we had the run of the streets in our private bike and bus lane. And the sites... breathtaking.

First of all, thanks for the two great tours I took last June. You were my first thing to do for my first visit to Paris and it was the smartest thing I could have done. Not only did I get oriented to the city quickly, but I met some great people and and had a great time.

Your tours are a great way to see the city. It was all our first trips to Paris and we all feel that we couldn't have gotten more acomplished in the short time we were there.

I wanted to say I had a complete blast on your tours...while the other bike tours around Europe were fun, yours ruled!
